Toledo, Ohio. Phyllis Sheets announces the opening of My Shop on Rugby Drive, where she provides clothing-alteration services for men and women. “Whether it’s just repairing a hem, or fitting a wedding gown or a man’s suit, I’m happy to take good care of my customers,” the new proprietor said.
Sheets’ career includes experience as a seamstress at Marshall Field’s, a personal shopper at Macy’s, a fashion consultant for Doncaster and a customer service representative at Fabric Circle U.S.A. “I began sewing when I was seven years old. I’m delighted to finally have my very own shop where I can take care of people’s alteration needs – right here in the neighborhood where I grew up,” Sheets said. Her shop is part of the expanding retail and service establishments known as The Shops at Beverly Place, off South Detroit Avenue, just south of Glanzman Road.
Sheets’ customers appreciate her talents and dedication to personal service. Louise Kahle of Take The Time: Image Matters!, first hired Sheets in 2003. She remarks that “Phyllis has been my personal seamstress for several years and I am always happy to refer my clients to her. Sometimes all it takes for an old jacket to look new again is to change a few details, and a shortened hemline can take a skirt from matronly to modern!”
My Shop at Rugby Drive is open Tuesday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. In addition to alterations, it sells unique jewelry created by Phyllis Sheets and Celeste Sheets, and Doncaster clothing and accessories. It also carries designer clothing, purses and shoes on consignment.
A Toledo native, Sheets attended Bowsher High School and the University of Toledo. She is a graduate of Certified Networker® training and an active member of CN and Women’s Entrepreneurial Network (WEN).
