Black Swamp Arts Festival Earns Top 100 Honors

Bowling Green, OH--Wood County - The Black Swamp Arts Festival’s art show has again earned top 100 honors from Sunshine Artist Magazine. The festival is ranked 55th in the magazine’s listings of Fine Art and Design Shows for 2009.
The rankings are determined by reports from artists participating in shows. The main factor in the ranking is sales. Despite an ailing economy the festival’s art show slipped only two places, having been ranked 53rd last year.
“Sunshine Artist” is the premier publication aimed at artists and artisans who exhibit in art fairs. In its FastAudits report on last year’s show, the magazine said: “Artist treatment, awards and management all received glowing reviews. It’s no wonder this show is a regular on our 20 Best list.”
The magazine continued that despite sales being off as they have been “too often lately,” the artists appreciated the “art-savvy buyers” who attended.
This is the second time this year the magazine has bestowed an honor on the festival. The 2009 poster received an honorable mention in Sunshine Artist’s poster competition.
The Juried art show at the festival includes 112 booths. The festivals also holds the Wood County Invitational with 40 artists and an exhibit and sale devoted to students in Bowling Green State University’s School of Art.
This year’s art show runs Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Main Street, Bowling Green. The festival begins at 5 p.m. Sept. 10 with music on the Main Stages in the city parking lot behind Panera’s and Sam B’s restaurants. The festival also features a family area with children’s craft activities and performances on Saturday and Sunday.
