Among the many reasons to join the event are breakfast pastries provided by Georgette’s Grounds & Gifts, a Sunshine supported employment site; a scavenger hunt sponsored by the Toledo Metroparks; a Children’s Activity Area; sandwiches provided by the Whitehouse Inn; and great prizes from Dave’s Running Shop, Manos Greek Restaurant, Rave Motion Pictures and many more. All participants that pre-register will receive a reusable Sunshine tote bag in addition to the t-shirt.
The Walk With Sunshine brings together clients and staff of Sunshine with community members and supporters. The original Walk took place in 1998 when Jeff Alt, who has a brother at Sunshine, hiked 2,160 miles the entire Appalachian Trail as a fundraiser for the organization. His journey inspired others and since its inception, the Walk has raised over $180,000 for programs and services for clients of Sunshine. Sunshine’s mission is to create community among people with developmental disabilities, their families, friends and staff by offering services that enable us to build relationships that enhance our lives through mutual caring and growth.
