Toledo Mayor Michael P. Bell will hold a press conference at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27th criticizing political calls to fully privatize the Ohio Department of Development. The Department of Development has been instrumental in helping to retain and expand businesses in northwest Ohio as the economy has faltered nationwide and Toledo has strived to keep people at work.
Mayor Bell will be joined by representatives of Toledo Jet Center, a local business that received start-up aid from the Ohio Department of Development to establish a new aircraft maintenance and avionics service provider after Toledo Cessna Citation Service Center closed in 2009. Toledo Jet Center has retained 19 employees from the former Cessna facility and their business plan anticipates an additional 35 new jobs in their first three years of operation.
