City of Toledo begins recruitment for new fire class

The Toledo Department of Fire & Rescue has begun recruitment for the next civil service exam. The department is expecting to hire a class of at least 25 probationary firefighters in late 2011.

The civil service recruitment process for the department includes filling out an interest card, completing an application and sitting for the examination. Those applicants that have a passing score on the exam will be included in the eligibility list for future fire academy classes.

Individuals interested in entering the fire service may complete an interest card in person at the City of Toledo human resources department in One Government Center or at the fire and rescue department’s Office of Recruitment at 398 Nebraska Ave. between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Interest cards will also be accepted via email. Additionally, recruitment team members have and will continue to staff information booths at community events throughout the spring. An interest card is not an application for employment, but does enter interested individuals in the department’s database for follow up with the fire recruitment team.
