Herzing University-Toledo will observe Black History Month on Thursday, February 20th

Herzing University-Toledo will observe Black History Month on Thursday, February 20th with a number of visual options:

4-5 pm Soul Food Cookoff—students and staff compete in this annual friendly competition held in the Student Lounge.

5-7 pm BHM program—This program will include an interpretive student dance, a reading of the winning BHM essay by the student contest winner, and the presentation of the play Bourbon at the Border, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of “Freedom Summer.” Three of our students will present the play, followed by an open discussion with the cast members. The play follows the lives of two ordinary people who joined hundreds of other Americans for a massive voter registration drive in Mississippi in the summer of 1964.

During the program, a mini-service fair will be set up in the library for students to browse, get questions answered, and sign up for a variety of services, including free tax prep. A yoga demonstration and class will be held from 6:30-7 pm.

We hope to see you on campus Thursday evening. All events are free and open to the public.
