  • Lucas County Auditor Anita Lopez was visibly sweating in the evening heat Thursday night, as she furiously worked the patio outside El Camino Real, where she was celebrating a "40-something" birthday with more than 100 of her closest Democratic pals at a political fundraiser.

    But she also was feeling the heat of a furious rumor: that the widow of the incumbent she beat four years ago plans to wage a Republican write-in campaign to unseat her.

  • (Released May 24, 2010) – The Toledo-Lucas County Public Library is proud to announce its latest historic exhibition, The Original Toy Story: The Live Dolls Children’s Book Series, on view now through the end of August, 2010. The display details the fascinating book series about dolls who come to life or Live Dolls, as written by Josephine Scribner Gates (1859-1930), who was raised in Toledo.

    The exhibit also features the works of illustrator Virginia Keep Clark (1878-1962), of New Orleans, Louisiana. Clark illustrated most of Gates’ Live Dolls books.

    (Toledo, OH) - The Toledo Mud Hens are pleased to announce that their 2011 season schedule is complete.

     

    The Mud Hens will open the 144-game season on the road at Louisville on Thursday, April 7th with the home opener coming on Thursday, April 14th at Fifth Third Field.

     

    **The home opener will be a doubleheader (two 7 inning games) with the first pitch scheduled for 4:00 pm.
